If you haven’t been to my website in a while, you may notice that I’ve made some changes. Among other things, I’ve removed most of my blog posts to prepare for a new direction.
Miss them?
Probably not.
I hope you like the new direction that I’ll be taking here. Of course, I’ll continue to write about my writing process, and what I’m doing toward getting LIGHTNING ON THE LEVEE and DRAGON MOON published. And I’ll also continue to give you information that relates to these books, like I did in the series about life and fashion in Molly B O’Connor’s 1908.
You’ll still see occasional uplifting quotes, like the Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day memes that I made for you to share.
But I’ll also talk about other topics that I find interesting – and I hope you’ll find them interesting, too!
What “new direction” topics will those be?
Here are a few –
Fashion.
You may or may not know that I have a degree in apparel and textile design, along with a lifelong love affair with fashion. Fashion history was my favorite subject in college, but I find current fashion, as a reflection (or result) of our society, intriguing.
Art.
I’ve always loved art in its many forms, and the questions raised by the art itself, such as – What inspires artists to paint certain people, places, and things? What caused past artists to make changes to the styles that were popular in their eras, making them harbingers of change? And what about the stories behind certain pieces of art? These and more questions will be explored.
Food.
Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a bit of a foodie. The food scene in Nashville is mind-boggling. And in New Orleans, my daddy (who went to college there) said that you can start at the River, eat at every restaurant along Canal Street until you get to the Lake, and never have a bad meal. That’s probably true, although I’ve never actually tried it. In addition, there are many amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurants in almost every place I’ve ever been. And there are recipes begging to be tried – different and interesting recipes that grab my attention – I *must* try them!
Music.
This probably fits into the Art category, but I just wanted to make it perfectly clear that, as a music lover who’s not married to any one genre, there will most likely be articles about music… all types of music, past and present.
Things to do and places to go.
Some people would call this category “Travel”, and maybe that’s how I’ll label it. But there’s no need to actually travel far when there are so many splendid points of interest within, or close by, our own cities.
Health and Wellness.
I believe that our well-being is vitally important to the quality of our lives. Healthy eating, healthy activities, great supplements, and a positive outlook on life are the keys to enjoying life to its fullest. This is a topic that I’ve studied on my own since high school, so don’t be surprised to see articles about health and wellness in the future.
Life Stories.
If I’m thinking about something that’s happened in my life, or someone else close to me, I write about it. And if I think that you might be entertained by the story, well by all means, I’ll post it on my blog, just for you!
So what do you think of my new direction?
Do you like the new direction that I have planned for my blog?
I hope so, because you’re the reason I’m doing it. We all need fun, interesting, and useful things to focus on from time to time, and I want to provide some of that for you.
By the way, the brilliant and moody image above is a (cropped to fit this format) painting by the late artist Leonid Afremov. You can see more of his work at https://afremov.com/
Let me know what you think! I love you all.
